Margaret Rogers – Ambassador – Sales and Marketing
Margaret Rogers is a passionate and dedicated advocate for the preservation of Heritage Dartmoor Ponies. With a deep understanding of their heritage and cultural significance, Margaret plays a vital role in helping ensure the enduring legacy of this iconic native breed, which has roamed the rugged landscapes of Dartmoor for centuries.
Alongside her work with the DPHT, Margaret and her husband Mike Rogers manage the well-known Chinkwell Herd, a traditional semi-feral herd of native Dartmoor ponies that grazes the moorland around Widecombe-in-the-Moor, including Chinkwell Tor, Bell Tor and Honeybag Tor. Carefully managed to retain the breed’s natural hardiness, temperament and traditional characteristics, the herd contributes to conservation grazing while helping safeguard one of Britain’s rare native pony breeds for future generations.
As a DPHT Ambassador, Margaret works with the charity to identify and develop opportunities with organisations including the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, RSPB, National Trust and English Heritage, supporting the use of Heritage Dartmoor Ponies in conservation grazing projects that restore and maintain fragile habitats, enhance biodiversity and protect valuable landscapes.
