The DPHT has a herd of approximately 25 native Dartmoor Ponies used for conservation grazing. The ponies are used to increase wildlife and to keep the vegetation in check, you can normally catch site of them around their favourite haunt at Bellever Tor.
To see a herd of Dartmoor Ponies grazing on Dartmoor is a magical sight, we have a range of ages, our current youngest is Pan – a grey yearling gelding running with his dam. Let us know if you see him. Our oldest pony is Joey, a large dark bay gelding. He grows a thick moustache in the winter and has a large white star.
