Frosty was donated to DPHT by Jon French and Kerry Smith from Holne Common and trained by Vanessa Bee when DPHT was at Brimpts Farm. Frosty, had a lovely gentle nature and was very responsive to command. He was trained as a pack-pony and was used to accompany children on the Tin Mine Trail. He excelled himself on a visit to DPHT of some blind children where he was so gentle and patient with all that was going on around him.
He completed the Ten Tors Jubilee challenge in 2008 distance 8 miles as a 5 year old
His current owner is Shani Pegg and her 8 year old daughter Melody – Shani purchased him from a lady in Barlow at the age of 12. He now lives with them in Chesterfield and has reached the ripe old age of 20, a mere youngster for a Heritage Dartmoor pony!
Shani contacted DPHT via social media back in May 2023 to find out if we had any history or background information.
We sent a copy of the DPHT poster of him with Blue. She was thrilled to find out a little bit about his roots on Dartmoor.
Shani then sent DPHT more information this week
Melody has only been riding him for the last year and they have just won a championship class at Grassroots Championship Show at Barleyfields in Derby in the first year, first ridden class and also obtained a 3rd in the dressage class on Sunday 15th October.
When Melody goes missing at home, she can always be found with her best friend Frosty who is fondly known as frosty knickers!
He is very much loved – a true gent who takes great care of his human companion and has a home for life.
CONGRATULATIONS Melody
How wonderful ????
