HALF TERM AND EASTER HOLIDAYS ACTIVITY!
CHARITY LETTERBOX WALK ON DARTMOOR
Here is a good idea for keeping the family busy during half term – and enjoying an easy walk and exploration of Dartmoor! Moorland Guide Paul Rendell is running one of his FREE DPHT Charity Letterbox walks at Bellever near Postbridge, suitable for people of all ages to enjoy, on Monday 12th February 2018, starting at 10am (until approx.1pm).
‘Letterboxing’ on Dartmoor is about following a route that enables the walker to find hidden boxes at various points on the Moor, using ‘clue sheets’.
Says Paul: “This ‘limited edition’ walk is a fun way to find out more about the history of letterboxing, a hobby which started in 1854; as well as learning about the ponies on Bellever Tor and life on Dartmoor as a whole”.
These Letterbox walks are for groups of 6 up to 15 persons, walking about 3 miles and collecting up to 12 letterbox stamps.
Further holiday dates for this special Walk are:
Easter – Tuesday 3rd April 2018, 10am -1pm: and Summer – Monday 27th Aug 2018, 2pm -5pm (part of Dartmoor Walking Festival). Duration approx. 3 hours. Start: Bellever car park at Postbridge (Not visitor centre car park)
Booking is vital – please phone Paul – 01837 54727 or email paul.dartmoor@virgin.net.
