LIMITED SPACES – EARLY BOOKING ESSENTIAL
This daybreak walk with Tony Whitehead – RSPB accompanied by Paul Rendell – Moorland Guide.
Meeting in the Forestry England Bellever car park by the river.
It’s a dawn chorus, but the birds sing from first light, which is earlier, so we’ll gather at 4:45am.
From the car park we’ll wander into the forest and down toward Laughter Hole Farm. As the dawn chorus starts we will take some time to stop, sit and simply listen.
The first songsters are always robins, song thrush and blackbird – but there will be a whole host of other birds as the early morning progresses – melodious mistle thrushes, chirpy chaffinches and sibilant siskins to name just a few. We’ll aim to finish around 8:30am back at the car park.
The walk is on forest tracks. Wrap up warm as it’s always cold first thing, bring waterproofs and something to sit on like a sit mat and a flask if you’d like. Bring binoculars if you have them, but absolutely no worries if not because we’ll mainly be using our ears!
